going south: savannah

The sweetest (and hottest) getaway I took mid-June with my mom, aunt, and sister. Savannah was exactly what I hoped: full of beautiful, old homes, Spanish moss covered trees, ghost stories, and delicious Southern food. I was most excited to try out The Grey - a renowned and historic restaurant in an old Greyhound bus station that I had learned about on Chef’s Table where we feasted on from-scratch biscuits, grits, and a melt in your mouth buckwheat pancake. I would love to go back. Here are just a few photos I took on my 35mm Olympus.

Savannah itinerary highlights:

Trolly tour - I love getting a lay of the land when I’m in a new place and learning a thing or two!

Forsyth Park - Checking out this gorgeous park with it's infamous fountain is a must while in Savannah. Sit down at Collin’s Quarters for a refreshing beverage while you’re there!

Mate Factor - This tiny and adorable cafe was a short walk from where we stayed. Step inside for the coziest pastry and yerba mate.

The Grey - Make your reservation now if you plan to go! Such an amazing space and experience here. The food lives up to the hype.

Take a ghost tour! - Savannah is known as being the most haunted city in America. Check out the many options if you like that kind of thing!!

Bonaventure Cemetery - This tour was so interesting and thorough. The grounds were gorgeous.

Explore on foot - Downtown Savannah has 22 ‘squares’, have fun just wandering around to each one!

If you’re feeling up to a day trip, Tybee Island is a short drive away where we enjoyed some relief from the heat on the beach. We even spotted some dolphins!
